3D model of physical component or assembly.

A component (part) can be a solid body or a sheetmetal part.

An assembly can be build bottom up or top down. Adding two parts or more together results in a assembly (~system).

Technical Product Documentation, according customer layout and advised format (scale), component or assembly, type of component,  desired parameters, material, calculated weight, applicable standards or norms, preferred projection views, Bill Of Material, 3D view(s), sectional view(s), exploded view(s), assembly sequence, revision history, joint methode, dimensions, specific geometric or dimensional tolerances, notes, indicate visible end surfaces ... . Parameters can be exported towards PLM or ERP system. In case of sheetmetal part, flat state of part with bending lines, angle of bend & direction. Grain direction for visible parts or sensitive material. 

Design with intended manufacturing methode in mind.

Engineer a product in such a way it can be manufactured and assembled with todays technical (machining) operations or solutions, example, laser cutting, 3D printing, laser welding, robot or cobot welding or other joining techniques.
